House flippin’ duo, Sherilyn and Daniel, are tired of creating ‘blank canvas’ DIY projects, preventing them from unleashing their big ideas full of colour and intricate detail.
About Sherilyn & Daniel
Sherilyn and Daniel met many moons ago under the stars whilst both working on a cruise ship. Daniel was the ship’s photographer and Sherilyn worked in the entertainment department. It was a short but sweet ship romance with Sherilyn eventually leaving to pursue other career options and Daniel ‘ghosting’ her. They reconnected years later following an apology from Daniel and the rest is history!
After multiple interesting career ventures (Daniel – insurance & Sherilyn – Disneyland Paris) they are both now self-employed creatives. Sherilyn works in marketing and Daniel works as a freelance graphic designer, which enables them to work from home and renovate in their spare time.
Whilst Daniel is more laid-back and seems to be fine in DIY mess, Sherilyn is the complete opposite and likes order. She often finds herself cleaning up after Daniel. She says she lives 5 months ahead of Daniel, although Daniel does need to monitor Sherilyn’s spending! They are self-described ‘Yin and Yang’.
In her spare time, Sherilyn likes to dance and go roller skating. If she’s not found painting in the chateau, you might find her skating around the outbuildings to wind down.
Both Sherilyn and Daniel are passionate and competitive, but Sherilyn says, “Daniel takes it to a completely new level! Any game he plays (even with his niece) he plays to win!”
Their DIY journey
In the last 5 years, the pair have bought, lived in, and renovated 5 houses, flipping them for a profit. They have renovated their homes from rundown wrecks in desperate need of attention to a ‘blank canvas’ ready for people to purchase and put their own stamp on.
Daniel has more experience when it comes to renovating, as his mother and father flipped houses for many years during his upbringing, most of which he has had an involvement in. His favourite tool is the multitool.
Sherilyn has got stuck in with DIY projects over the past 5 years. She loves tools that make her life easier, like her wallpaper steamer. Sherilyn has a passion for project management and interior design. She has a dollhouse that she renovates, which currently enables her to express her creativity and interior design skills.
Between them, they have completed tasks/challenges such as demolition, carpentry, tiling, small plumbing and electric jobs, skirting boards, ceilings and interior design projects. Daniel is quite green-fingered too!
The Dream
They want to break free from their clinical renovations, get married, and run their very own chateau as a B&B business. The plan is to have individually themed chambres d’hôtes, including Disney-themed!
But there’s just one small hitch—they’re a bit short on funds at the moment, and Daniel hasn’t even popped the question yet! If they can get the chateau up and running, they want to make their wedding dream a reality, hopefully in their own charming little chateau.
