About Xavier and Natasha
Xavier is from Mauritius and spent most of his childhood growing up there, before moving to London in adult life. He watched his parents build his family home over there from scratch, which is where his passion for DIY and natural ability stems from.
The pair matched on dating app Bumble in 2020 during the Covid lockdown, where Natasha was drawn to his “exotic” name, and after a couple of awkward park walk dates, they are now 4 years and 2 kids in! They have a 4-month-old son, Jude and 2-year-old daughter, Esme, who is already taking an interest in DIY and their tools, so their main job is keeping her alive!
Natasha is the more impulsive of the pair, where Xavier is practical and methodical. She refers to herself as having “champagne dreams on a beer budget!”
Natasha is the design brain and is brimming with creativity. Her parents bought her a sewing machine when she was 10 years old, she is passionate about interior design, fabrics, and has a career in fashion e-commerce.
Xavier has a real penchant for hosting and loves going the extra mile. He is big on cooking, table laying, cocktail-making—all attributes that stand him in good stead for chateau owning!
Their DIY journey
Xavier and Natasha moved in to their new flat 5 weeks ago and have already hit the ground running renovating it. They have renovated the lounge, putting in carpet, replastering and painting and upscaling the staircase—removing the carpet, sanding and painting the wood and installing a classy carpet runner. The pair are not shy about getting their hands dirty and doing everything themselves.
Before their current home, Natasha bought a split-level Edwardian flat with her younger sister which was derelict and in need of full renovation. But with a keen eye for design, Natasha could see the potential as soon as they walked in. Xavier later moved in and the pair worked on it together for 3 years, changing every room!
Keeping it in the family, Xavier’s dad decided to change careers during Covid, retrained as a carpenter and taught Xavier and Natasha how to do everything. Together with trusty YouTube, there is now nothing they are afraid to try.
The Dream
Natasha and Xavier got engaged in Mauritius last year and had already been planning to get married in a French chateau, so winning one would be absolutely perfect!
As a pair, they share the passion to renovate property together. Their plan is to move out to France and run the chateau as a wedding venue or B&B, where Natasha can explore her cooking passion, and Xavier can put his bar and cocktail-making experience to the ultimate test.
